American Adventure: Las Vegas And New York

The Ultimate American Adventure: Planning a Trip to Las Vegas and New York

Did you know that the USA stretches within 500 miles of both the North Pole and the Equator? North America is a huge and diverse country, with a breathtaking array of things to see and do. So a multi-centre holiday, where you stop at more than one destination, is the ideal way to experience the many and varied facets of this unique nation.

In this blog we’ll focus on all you need to know when planning a trip to two of its must-see cities: Las Vegas and New York. We’ve also included two other must-see destinations, to make this trip the ULTIMATE American adventure - Los Angeles and San Francisco.

New York, New York: so good, you won’t want to leave

Even if you’ve never been to New York before, you’ll still find it familiar: from the Manhattan skyline to its trademark yellow taxis, the Big Apple is the backdrop to many a Stateside adventure, on TV, on the silver screen - and now, on your holiday!

Where to start on your New York trip? To really get the atmosphere of the city that never sleeps, there are a few essential items for your “to do” list. Why not start your day with a bagel from one of the city’s specialist bakeries - giving you the energy you need for a ferry trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island? This iconic landmark is emblematic of the Land of the Free, and it’ll give you a real sense of place. The Empire State Building is another must-see attraction - or visit the Museum of Modern Art for the ultimate culture fix. At night, take in a Broadway show, or simply take a stroll through the iconic Times Square after dark.

If you’re seeking the New York city night-life scene, we recommend taking a late night trip to Jay Gatsby’s house to watch the Queen of the Night performance. This memorable performance features gymnasts of Cirque du Soleil flowing across the room while you dig into a feast. Tickets aren’t cheap, but we can assure you that this immersive theatrical experience will be one to remember.

Your trip to Las Vegas: sunset strip and desert sun

From the East Coast to the West, a Las Vegas and New York multi trip is the ideal way to experience the stark contrasts America has to offer. New York and Las Vegas holidays are two very different adventures - so you’ll get twice the fun in a single break!

From the Bellagio Fountains to the endless clubs and casinos of the Las Vegas Strip, your time in Vegas will be unforgettable. With replicas of some of the world’s most iconic sights, you can visit the Eiffel Tower and take a trip on a Venetian gondola! But don’t spend all your time within the city: venturing away from the bright lights and nightlife, the Grand Canyon is an awe-inspiring natural phenomenon that should feature on everyone’s bucket list.

Want to see more? Extend your trip to Los Angeles and San Francisco

A New York / Las Vegas holiday is amazing, but the States have so much more to offer. So why not book a 3-city trip taking in New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles - or go all out by visiting four amazing US cities: New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Best things to do in LA

With its film star glamour and picture-perfect beaches, Los Angeles is a holiday destination with star qualities. If you only do one thing during your time in LA, hike the Hollywood Hills to have your picture taken by those iconic white letters, and reward yourself with the best views over the city. If beaches are your thing, head to Malibu’s beautiful coastline, walk the pier, and check out the glamorous pads of A-listers including Leonardo DiCaprio and Cher. There’s also a plethora of theme parks, studio tours and Hollywood sights to keep you busy while you’re here.

If you’re planning a family holiday to California, we recommend completing the trip with an action-packed day at Disneyland. Located in Anaheim, approximately half an hour southeast of LA - getting to the parks is just a train or straightforward car journey away.

As the original Disneyland, there are two main parks: the traditional Disneyland park and the California Adventure Park. With all of the action of rollercoasters and high-speed rides, as well as the chance to take in the Disney magic at a slower place - the parks are perfect for children of all ages. And if you’re planning on visiting as an adult - who can blame you! Everyone needs to experience a little Disney magic while visiting Los Angeles.

Best things to do in San Francisco

Home to flower power, the famous Golden Gate Bridge and one of the world’s most notorious prisons, San Francisco is California’s Golden City. A famously hilly city, the cable cars are a great way to get around - and if you’re feeling energetic, San Fran is one of the most cycle-friendly destinations in the whole of the USA.

Your itinerary for San Francisco needs to include a trip over the Bridge, a visit to Alcatraz, and a tour of Haight-Ashbury, the home of 1960s hippie counter-culture. Don’t

forget to sample some of the mouth-watering culinary treats available in the city, from fresh seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf, to dim sum in Chinatown.
