Roar into Adventure: Explore the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve on a Private Safari
The wild wonders of India are just a call away when you book our Golden Triangle Tour, complete with a private tiger safari. So if you’ve been on a lot of relaxing beach holidays recently and are looking for a spark of adventure, we’ve got the trip for you.
Ranthambore National Park is in the Rajasthan region of India, a short distance from Sawai Madhopur. It was established as one of the country’s Project Tiger reserves over 40 years ago in 1973.
The magnificent Royal Bengal Tigers are the main draw for visitors. It’s estimated there are only around 3,000 of these beautiful creatures left in India, although their numbers have been rising steadily thanks to the dedicated conservation efforts over several decades. Observing them in their natural habitat is a joy to behold. So bring your best camera and prepare to be blown away by their powerful presence.
You can read about some of the current and past tigers that have lived in Ranthambore on the official website. They each have unique character traits your guide will be able to tell you more about.
In addition to its tigers, the park is home to hundreds of other animals, including:
● 320 bird species
● 40 mammal species
● 35 reptile species
So whether you’re a nature lover, a keen photographer or want to appreciate another side of India, this is the place to be. We’ve picked out some of the most popular things to see and do at Ranthambore National Park below to give you an idea of what to expect.
Jeep and canter safaris
There are 10 individual safari zones within the park. Your guided journey around these will be aboard a six-seater Jeep. With a population of around 80 tigers, your chances of spotting a few are high, with some zones providing better opportunities than others.
A tiger safari will be an unforgettable part of your Indian holiday. The memories, photographs and insight you’ll gain are impossible to put a price on. Viewing these creatures and others close up and reconnecting with nature is a privilege.
We can’t list all the different species found in the park here, but the possibility of seeing leopards, jungle cats, sloth bears, five-striped palm squirrels and hundreds more will fill you with excitement and anticipation.
This might be your only opportunity to see many of these wonders of the wild. Visiting them in a zoo, for example, just won’t be the same. Here they are encouraged to live naturally and with much more freedom. And by coming here, you’ll be making a vital contribution to the conservation of these tigers so future generations can nurture, cherish and protect them from harm.
A private safari is included in your holiday package so you can enjoy every moment with your family or partner without any other distractions. Your full concentration is needed because creatures can come and go in the blink of an eye and you won’t want to miss out.
World-class bird watching
From the thrill of tiger spotting to a more relaxing pursuit, Ranthambore National Park is a bird watchers’ paradise. If you’re visiting between October and March, you’ll get to see so many impressive migratory birds as well as the hundreds of species that live here year-round.
If you’ve got any of these on your must-see list, you could be in for a real treat:
● Indian grey hornbills
● Drongos
● Treepies
● Bulbuls
With such a vast area to cover, make sure to ask on arrival the best places to spot your favourite birds, as your chances will vary between the different safari zones and habitats in the park’s 400 square kilometres.
Even if you’ve never been an avid ‘twitcher’, you’ll be intrigued by the array of shapes, colours and sounds all around you as you’re expertly steered through this thriving national wonder.
Ranthambore Fort
This 10th-century fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and can be found on a hilltop overlooking the national park. There are many stories of battles being fought here over the centuries, and the fort complex is also home to the Trinetra Ganesha Temple - which is well worth making the effort to visit. However, the temple isn’t as old as the fort - dating back to 1300 when King Hammer built it.
Ranthambore Fort’s location is perfect for photography and appreciating the many panoramic views over the park below. It’s the ideal place to relax after a busy day exploring or preparing for the excitement of your Ranthambore tiger safari that’s still to come.
It’s worth mentioning that admission to the fort isn’t included as part of your Ranthambore tiger safari, but we can arrange tickets for you in advance if you’d like to make the most of your day.
After a fantastic holiday touring New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, visiting the Ranthambore tiger safari will be in stark contrast to these famous Indian cities and the many attractions they offer. We can’t think of a more marvellous way to break up the short city breaks on your tour.
If you’ve not been on holiday for a while and want to do something spectacular, you’ll be talking about this package deal and your day in Ranthambore National Park Safari for years to come.
