High Roller
Where else would you expect to find one of the world's tallest Ferris Wheels? High Roller stands at a mighty 550 feet tall and is almost the same in diameter (520 feet).
It’s a relatively new addition to the Las Vegas skyline, opening to the public in March 2014. Enjoying a 30-minute ride high above The Strip in your fully enclosed cabin is an experience you’ll never forget.
If you’re impressed by Vegas at street level, wait until the 360-degree views of the area are right before your eyes. It’s an unmissable addition to the area and one you certainly can’t miss, especially when it’s lit up at night on Linq Promenade.
Linq Promenade
High Roller isn’t the only attraction at Linq Promenade. As well as restaurants, shopping, nightlife and spa treatments, there’s a host of other popular things to see and do. These include the zipline, which is a thrilling 1,080 feet up, a bar made from 100 tonnes of ice, a nightly light show, and the museum of selfies where you can take fun snaps to share on your socials
The Eiffel Tower
This is Paris, Las Vegas style! The half-scale replica of France’s most iconic landmark brings a touch of continental charm and romance to this famous American city.
You can escape the buzz of activity down on The Strip and go 46 floors up to marvel at the breathtaking views across the cityscape below.
There’s also the Eiffel Tower restaurant if you’d like to make an evening of it with the one you love. Sample delicious French cuisine as you enjoy the Vegas vistas and make plans for the rest of your holiday or perhaps even the rest of your life together!
Grand Canyon Tours
If you’re staying in Las Vegas and want to broaden your horizons, there’s no better day trip than visiting the Grand Canyon National Park. There are several exciting ways to experience the natural beauty of this area - you can travel by bus, helicopter, small plane, SUV or even go white water rafting in the Colorado River for an extra thrilling adventure.
The tranquillity of the Grand Canyon provides a wonderful contrast to the 24/7 hustle and bustle of Sin City. The sheer scale of it and the vast beauty will stay with you forever, however you decide to travel. Averaging around 10 miles across and a mile deep, the Grand Canyon is an incredible 277 miles long, so you’ll only be able to savour a snapshot of it during your day trip.
Things to do in Las Vegas: Discover The Strip
The Las Vegas Strip is just over four miles long. It’s packed full of casinos, hotels, shops, restaurants, attractions, entertainment and more. If you’ve never been to Vegas before, having a stroll along The Strip will give you a real flavour of what’s on offer.
Some of the most famous hotels on The Strip include the Bellagio, Luxor, Park MGM, The Venetian Resort, The Mirage, Paris, Las Vegas and Mandalay Bay. Many of these are wonderful examples of modern and innovative architecture that will blow your mind.
A seemingly never-ending number of stretch limousines glide between the bright lights on either side of the street. And you’ll have the kid in a sweet shop feeling as you decide where you want to go first. The Strip has become synonymous with Las Vegas because it’s featured in many TV shows and movies.
One thing’s for sure - you’ll never forget how The Las Vegas strip manages to stimulate all your senses simultaneously. So if you’re visiting on a multi-centre break, make sure to immerse yourself in the Las Vegas luxury and glamour you won’t find anywhere else on earth.
Grab a Selfie with the Las Vegas Sign
Marking the beginning of The Strip is the famous sign - “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada”. It’s been there since 1959 and is a must-visit for a quick selfie if you want to mark your holiday on social media and send the photo to your friends back home.
Pinball Hall of Fame
Right across the street from the Las Vegas Sign, you’ll find the recently relocated Pinball Hall of Fame. It’s now housed in a 25,000 square foot facility on The Strip and, as the name suggests, is packed full of incredible pinball machines going right back to the 1950s.
A trip here provides good wholesome family fun or a trip down memory lanes for adults. It’s something a bit different to all the nearby casinos, and all the machines are in working order for you to have a play with. The Pinball Hall of Fame is a non-profit organisation too. So if you’re visiting this part of The Strip anyway, you should definitely have it on your list of things to do in Las Vegas. You can have a lot of fun and help out the local Salvation Army at the same time.
Fountains of Bellagio
For a free and spectacular show on The Strip, look no further than the Bellagio Fountains. Here you’ll find music, water and lights combining perfectly together against the stunning backdrop of the hotel itself.
As you’d expect, these aren’t just any old fountains because this is Las Vegas. The water can shoot up to 460 feet in the air above the giant artificial lake. So to fully appreciate the show, don’t look it up on YouTube first - just go along and prepare to be amazed for a few short moments during your Las Vegas holiday.
Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden
If you want to experience something a little bit different, a free visit to the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden certainly fits the bill. There are incredible seasonal displays put together by the horticultural team, which cover around 14,000 square feet.
It’s a natural oasis of colour away from the bright lights and crowds of The Strip. The Conservatory Dining Experience is a one-off too. Enjoy a spot of brunch or a more formal dinner in relaxing and beautiful surroundings with first-class service.
Hoover Dam
Just a half-hour drive from The Strip, the iconic Hoover Dam is waiting to be explored. Visiting the Hoover Dam by SUV, flying over it on a helicopter or watching it from the waters of Lake Mead are some of the ways to take in this amazing feat of engineering.
It’s difficult to appreciate the size and scale of the Dam until you’re in close proximity. It’s 700 feet tall and spans 1,200 feet across. Taking a guided tour makes for an educational and fun way to spend a few hours away from the hustle and bustle of Vegas itself.
Lake Mead is the country’s biggest reservoir covering almost 250 square miles, and dinner cruises are available if you want a memorable meal surrounded by stunning scenery.
Whether you want to see the Hoover Dam from the air on your way to the Grand Canyon or spend more time learning about how it was constructed, there's a day trip from Las Vegas to suit you.
The Mob Museum
The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement is located in Downtown Las Vegas. It’s more commonly referred to as The Mob Museum. It’s packed with artefacts and exhibits, including a basement speakeasy and distillery, a crime lab, a firearm training simulator and a historic courtroom.
The range of artefacts helps bring some truly remarkable and fascinating stories to life too. For anyone interested in American history, The Mob Museum is a great way to spend a few hours learning more about some of the country’s most infamous crooks, criminals and mob bosses.
Silverton Las Vegas Aquarium
Swimming mermaids and daily stingray feeding times are among the attractions at Silverton Las Vegas Aquarium. If you're looking for things to do in Las Vegas that will appeal to all the family, there are thousands of wonderful tropical fish to spot - and it’s free for all the family to enjoy.
Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay
Within the Mandalay Bay hotel, you’ll find the Shark Reef Aquarium. It’s home to more than 2,000 incredible creatures, ranging from sharks and piranha to giant rays and sea turtles. This aquarium is a paid attraction that allows kids and adults to learn more about various stunning species.
Fremont East Entertainment District
There’s more to entertainment in Las Vegas than The Strip. Taking a trip to the Fremont East Entertainment District (FEED) downtown gives you access to restaurants, rooftop bars, live music and shopping galore.
The district spans over six blocks and is a great place to wander around at night and soak in a different vibe from the hotels and casinos on the main drag.
Topgolf Las Vegas
Golf may not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of things to do in Las Vegas. However, Topgolf is a great place to go for something a bit different. It’s a hi-tech driving range which is a whole lot of fun.
Don’t worry if you didn’t bring your golf clubs on holiday with you because there are clubs available to hire on-site. So if you’re on holiday with a group of friends or just want to keep your skills sharp while you’re away from your local course, Topgolf Las Vegas will suit you to a tee.
Local Golf Courses
If you’d prefer to play a full round in the beautiful Nevada sunshine, there are several courses in the Las Vegas area. These include Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, Bali Hai Golf Club, Angel Park Golf Club and TPC Las Vegas.
We’d recommend checking in advance if you’re able to play these and booking a tee time for during your stay. The stunning natural backdrop and local climate make these golf courses an absolute pleasure to play.
Madame Tussauds Las Vegas
Promoted as ‘The World’s Greatest Wax Museum’, Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas is packed full of superstars to admire and get selfies with.
From the worlds of music, entertainment, sport, the big screen and more, there are so many incredibly lifelike figures you’ll scarcely believe your eyes.
You can also experience an amazing 4D movie as part of your ticket. At the time of writing, it’s Marvel Universe, so a real thrill for all the family to enjoy.
Cowabunga Canyon Water Park
If you’re on a family holiday to Las Vegas, you might want to spend the day cooling down at Cowabunga Canyon Water Park. It's located on South Fort Apache Road and is home to 25 slides plus other attractions.
Some highlights include the Texas Tornado, Ricochet Racer, Cadillac Shores Waves Pool and Cactus Creek. If you decide to take the plunge, give yourself enough time to experience all the slides for an adrenaline-packed day you’ll never forget.
M&M’s Las Vegas
This was the world’s first M&M store. You’ll find it in Showcase Mall next to the MGM Hotel and Casino. It’s a huge space dedicated to these ever-popular sweets, coming in at over 28,000 square feet over four floors.
As well as sampling some flavours you might not find here in the UK, you can create your own M&M’s to take back with you or enjoy as a quick snack before your next stop on your Las Vegas itinerary.
Stunning Hotels and Casinos
It’s impossible to compile a list of things to see and do in Las Vegas without mentioning the casinos.
Whether you’ve been before or want to try your hand at the slots, Blackjack, roulette and more for the first time, Vegas is the place to be. And because this is Las Vegas, the casinos are designed to be truly spectacular inside and out.
Here’s a list of just some you might want to visit on your holiday with us:
● Wynn/Encore
Wynn and Encore are five-star sister hotels and casinos. You get a sense of how luxurious they are as you approach. The relaxing colours, the sophisticated signature glowing from the top left of each building, and the sleek horizontal lines.
The casinos are open 24/7. So relax in the spacious comfort as you try your luck on the slots and table games. You can place your bets on various sports too.
● Sunset Station Hotel & Casino
This hotel and casino is technically located in Henderson, Nevada but isn’t far from the strip. Having recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, the Sunset Station Hotel has a popular casino and a great selection of bars and restaurants. These are perfect for grabbing a quick bite or special dinner before you take to the tables and try to hit the jackpot.
● Mandalay Bay
There aren’t many hotels and casinos that can boast a vast shark aquarium. But this is Las Vegas we’re talking about, where pretty much anything goes.
Standing 43 floors high, its glittering gold-coloured exterior makes it one of the most recognisable casinos on The Strip. So play a few hands of poker, pick out your lucky number on the roulette wheel or take a seat at one of the many enticing slot machines and dream big!
● Sante Fe Station Hotel & Casino
This hotel and casino is located just a few minutes from The Strip. It boasts one of the biggest gaming floors in the whole of Nevada, so you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to how you want to spend your afternoon or evening.
As well as all the usual favourites, you’ll also find Bingo, Keno and video poker. So even if you’re only in Las Vegas for a short time, it’s worthwhile to wander away from The Strip to see what else you can find.
● Bellagio
If you’re stopping by the Bellagio to view the magnificent fountain display, why not venture inside to see its impressive casino too? With 40 poker tables, it’s a great venue to try your hand at Texas Hold ‘Em and perhaps win some extra spending money for your holiday in the process. Just remember to gamble responsibly.
● MGM Grand
The bright lights of the MGM Grand are indeed a sight to behold. The casino covers an area of 171,500 square feet, and the hotel has an incredible 6,852 rooms - so it’s grand by name, grand by nature.
This iconic hotel has undergone many changes over the years, including removing the giant lion at its entrance. However, it remains a must-visit for dining, entertainment, gambling and more.
● Aria Resort & Casino
MGM Resorts also own the Aria Resort & Casino. With 150,000 square feet of gaming space, it’s not far behind the MGM Grand in terms of size.
The building is made out of reflective curved glass and stands 180 metres tall, so you definitely won’t miss it. Another thing that sets the hotel apart is its commitment to reducing energy. It’s been designed with smart rooms which can regulate the amount of light and temperature to reduce precious resources.
● Luxor
This pyramid-shaped hotel and casino that shoots out a beam of white light from its peak certainly gets everyone’s attention.
Its Egyptian theme helps it stand out, and its Las Vegas Strip location is only two miles from McCarran International Airport. So you could be placing your bets here not long after touching down and getting your holiday off to an electrifying start.
● Caesars Palace
The numbers certainly stack up well at Caesars Palace. It’s home to 185 table games, 1,324 slot machines and 18 big screens for sports.
With slots starting at just 1 cent per play, you can still enjoy your time at Caesars Palace without worrying about your bank balance. Instead, you may prefer to take a chance with a game of craps, at the roulette wheel or try to outwit the dealer at 21 or Blackjack.
There are way too many hotels and casinos in and around Las Vegas to mention here. However, we’re sure the list above gives you a good flavour of what to expect. But, of course, the best way to find your favourite is to book your holiday today and get out there and explore for yourself.
