Summary
In the southwest of India in the Kerala Region, you’ll find the city of Cochin, also known as Kochi. A port city since the mid-1300s, Cochin is home to an interesting collection of religious buildings, including the country’s oldest synagogue and the Hindu Temples, Sree Poornathrayeesa and Chottanikkara Devi.
Cochin’s coastline has some very nice beaches to enjoy, including Cherai where you might see some local dolphins, Andhakaranazh and Fort Kochi. There are many other historic sights to take in during your trip including Mattancherry Palace, the Museum of Kerala History and the ruins at the Portuguese Pallipuram Fort.
While you’re staying in Cochi, it’s definitely worth trying some of the aromatic and delicious local dishes such as dosa – rice and lentil batter crepes filled with paneer, mutton curry and lots more options.
