Summary
Booking a multi centre holiday to Cairo is a decision you’ll never regret. The Egyptian capital is over 1,000 years old. As well as being a mesmerising destination in its own right, it’s a great base for exploring iconic attractions such as the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx.
A Cairo city break has so much to offer. For example, you can discover a vast amount of ancient artefacts in the Egyptian Museum, enjoy a serene river cruise on the Nile and shop for souvenirs at Khan Al-Khalili market.
If you’re on a budget in Cairo, you’ll be pleased to know there’s an abundance of fantastic street food available that won’t break the bank. A few of our favourite quick bites to eat are ful medames, falafel, and peppers stuffed with spicy rice, known as mahshi.
We thoroughly recommend taking a tour of Old Cairo (Misr Al-Qadima) during your stay. The atmosphere and architecture will transport you back in time and give you a glimpse into a different way of life.
Cairo isn’t particularly well known for its nightlife scene, but there’s a wealth of wonderful places to let your hair down, including bars, clubs and live music venues. There’s a great cafe culture, too, if you’d prefer a more relaxed experience chatting about what you’ll do on the next day of your Cairo escape.
There’s no doubt that Cairo will capture your imagination. We’ve only scratched the surface here, but we hope it’s given you a good flavour of what to expect from this famous destination.
