Kandy

Kandy is a city in central Sri Lanka with a lake of the same name and is surrounded by majestic mountain peaks. The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is one of the most important Buddhist sites in the world and a trip around this ancient temple is an enlightening experience. You’ll also find the Royal Palace of Kandy at the same location.

There are many other sacred places to visit when you’re in Kandy such as the Church of St. Paul, and the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your multi-centre holiday to Kandy includes time to browse the local markets and drive around the impressive and serene lake which was built back in 1798.

The ruins of this striking 5th century fortress are worth the climb and an offer insight into Sri Lanka’s past that you won’t see anywhere else. Situated on what’s known as ‘Lion Rock’, this unmissable sight stands around 200 metres above the surrounding lush, green jungle.
