Summary
When you book a holiday to Zermatt, you’re guaranteed clean mountain air and unbelievable vistas. In the summer months, it’s a nature lover’s paradise with many hiking trails and opportunities to birdwatch and see other local wildlife, including deer, ibex and marmot. You can also try mountain biking and summer skiing in this area, all under the watchful eye of the Matterhorn, an imposing mountain standing at 4,478 metres.
You can’t get a gondola ride all the way to the summit. However, you can take the journey of a lifetime up to 3,883 metres and the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, complete with its own ice sculptures, cinema, restaurant and viewing platform.
Zermatt is also big on wellness, so after a day spent cycling, skiing or walking in the fresh air, you can seek out a blissful jacuzzi, sauna or massage in one of the many hotel spas. You’ll soon feel fit and raring to go for another day’s mountain exploring.
Our Swiss multi centre holidays in this part of the country are also a great escape during the winter months. Zermatt bursts into life as a thriving resort full of skiers and snowboarders looking for adventure and adrenaline on the slopes. Because of this, there’s excellent local nightlife whether you’re looking to party hard or enjoy a more laid-back experience after a tiring day. Bahnhofstrasse is the place to be.
That’s just a tiny taste of what you can see and do in Zermatt. The term ‘breathtaking’ is often overused, but it’s fitting for this magnificent mountain resort.
