Description

Big, bold and beautiful – Bratislava Castle dominates the landscape of this pretty European capital. There are some more off-beat attractions too such as the bronze statue of the ‘Man at Work’, the UFO Observation Deck and the Art Nouveau Church of St. Elisabeth which is a beautiful light blue colour that really sets it apart.

Bratislava may not be as famous as its neighbour, Prague when it comes to beer, but brewing has a long-standing tradition here. Enjoying a nice cold Slovakian lager on a hot day is a great way to spend some time or perhaps one of the local wines will be more to your taste.

Palaces and statues are also plentiful in Bratislava with Hans Christian Andersen making an appearance far from home. Primate’s Palace is an elegant, neoclassical piece of architecture in the old town area which was completed in 1781.

The National Theatre and the National Gallery of Slovakia are both to be found in Bratislava. And if you want to put your head in the clouds for a while, the Kamzik TV Tower is almost 200 metres high with a restaurant and observation deck for unrivalled vistas across the capital.

Bratislava is close to the Austrian border which is very handy for this multi-centre city break to Slovakia, as your next stop is Vienna – enjoy a relaxing train ride and get planning what you’re going to do first.

Book up now to avoid being disappointed. We’re just a phone call away on 0808 178 5868.

Bratislava and Vienna

The Danube will join you on your journey from Slovakia into Vienna, so you’ll have a familiar sight as you make your way through the city and its nothing short of sensational architecture from a range of periods.

With famous residents such as Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud, you’ll be following in famous footsteps as you visit places such as Schonbrunn Palace, Vienna City Hall and the vast MuseumsQuartier. There’s also a dedicated Freud Museum if you’d like to learn more about his life.

You may also want to spend a few hours at the Naschmarkt during your short break in Vienna. It has food stalls, vintage artefacts and many restaurants once all that browsing has made you hungry.

After the fourth and final night of your stay, it will be time to say goodbye to Vienna and return home with lots of great memories of your time here and of course, in Bratislava too.

Make some space in your diary and book up now for this multi-centre holiday to two of Europe’s finest capital cities.
