Sweden Multi Centre Holidays 2024 / 2025

Summary

Sweden is well known for its love of saunas – a blissful way to unwind if it’s a bit chilly outside. The country’s cuisine goes well beyond meatballs, delicious as they are. Things such as cinnamon buns and smoked herring are incredibly popular and well worth trying.

Our multi-centre city breaks that touch down in Sweden will take you to Stockholm, the capital and also Malmo – a coastal city in the south with a castle, cobbled streets and inspiring art exhibits.

Description

“No man is an island” wrote the poet John Donne hundreds of years ago, but when you visit Stockholm, you’ll find yourself more than happy to hop from one to another to see what lies in store.

Stockholm has a maritime museum, palace and charming old town area which is home to the Nobel Museum. As you make your way across the city’s numerous bridges, there are views to catch your eye and stop for a photograph or two.

If you’re looking things to do as a family, there’s an aquarium, city park with a winter ice rink as well as an amusement park located on the island of Djurgården. And if you have a sweet tooth, Sweden has an obsession with pick and mix known as godis which you’ll find in lots of small shops as well as supermarkets. The Swedish Museum of Natural History is another interesting place for kids and adults alike with dinosaur fossils amongst the popular exhibits.

Whatever your reason for taking a trip to Stockholm, it will be an invigorating and interesting experience. There are so many exceptional restaurants to try, so it’s probably wise to pick out some you like the sound of before you go.

Combine your Swedish escape with a visit to neighbouring Norway when you book this multi-centre city break to Stockholm and Oslo or you may want to choose Copenhagen instead.

Malmo

Malmo is home to a castle which was built back in the 16th century by the King of Denmark. Another piece of history that plays a part in everyday life is Lilla Torg. This lovely little square features many shops, bars and restaurants, making it a great spot for people watching or to enjoy a romantic dinner.

If you want to spend your time outdoors, there’s Ribersborg Beach and Folkets Park which often plays host to events such as concerts and markets. As well as many other waterfront parks, you may want to take a stroll to Malmo’s chocolate museum where you can grab a taste of some of the local confectionery.

Malmo has a wide range of places to eat out to suit all budgets from street food to Michelin-starred eateries. Whatever you choose, you’ll be sure to savour every mouthful of Sweden’s finest fresh produce.

But before you even arrive in Malmo, you’ll have a charming city break in beautiful Copenhagen to look forward to as part of your multi-centre holiday.
