Malmö is Sweden’s third largest city after Stockholm and Gothenburg. This coastal destination provides the opportunity to relax on lovely beaches, including Ribersborgsstranden and Klagshamnsstranden. You can also take a voyage of discovery along the city’s canals to see the sights from a different perspective.
When you’re feeling peckish, we recommend having a meal at Lilla Torg, a charming 16th-century square packed with bars, cafes and restaurants. Malmö has several beautiful parks to explore, so if you’d like to gently burn a few calories after a delicious lunch, taking a relaxing stroll around Kungsparken is ideal.
There are a couple of museums you should add to your itinerary. The Technology & Maritime Museum is full of great exhibits for adults and kids of all ages. For something a little more quirky, the Disgusting Food Museum is unmissable. You can get up close to 80 of the world’s most stomach-churning dishes and grab a taste if you’re brave enough.
For a more calming experience, Sibbarps Saltsjöbad is a beautiful spot for a hot sauna and cold swim. The views across to the iconic Öresund Bridge (the gateway from Malmö to Copenhagen by road or rail) are spectacular.
Other places worth visiting on your Malmö city break are St. Peter’s Church, Malmö Castle, and the striking Turning Torso skyscraper, which, at 190 metres tall, dominates the city skyline.
While Malmö may not enjoy the same high profile as other Swedish cities, it’s a stunning place to include in your multi centre holiday with various activities and unique sights.
