Agra is a Northern Indian city and home to the incredible Taj Mahal which attracts visitors from all over the world every year. While there’s no denying the appeal of one of the seven wonders of the world, there are lots of other attractions and things to do in the area.
The sandstone Agra Fort found upstream from the Taj Mahal is an imposing structure with an interesting past - it was once home to the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. There are other mausoleums in Agra such as the Itmad-ud-Daula or ‘Baby Taj’ and the Tomb of Mariam-uz-Zamani.
Other architectural delights to savour in this part of India include mosques, Hindu & Sikh Temples.
