Playa del Carmen
Slightly further south on the Yucatán Peninsula, you’ll find the coastal city of Playa del Carmen, close to Cancun. It’s a picturesque place to relax with palm-lined beaches and awe-inspiring coral reef. The Parque Fundadores is a popular gathering spot from which to enjoy the sunset at the end of another blissful day on the sand. There’s also an impressive aquarium where you can get up close to over 200 different creatures from the sea – a great day out for families.
Playa del Carmen is within easy driving distance of Cancun, but has a more relaxed vibe to it. There’s no pressure to do anything other than soak up the sun’s rays and enjoy the variety of quality cuisine right on your doorstep, including the finest, freshly caught seafood.
